Thoughts from the President

It is hard to believe it is 2022!  The time has flown by…. Two years ago, we all were just about to begin one of the most difficult times the world would ever face.

As we began the very challenging experience of Covid19 we had no idea where we would be today.  We were beginning practice for the 2020 season with the normal excitement and anticipation.  Little did we know, our season would only be a game or two before the world as we knew it came to a stop.

When the pandemic began, we had no idea what was going to happen and how it would affect our lives. From distance learning, remote working, loss of loved ones, pain and suffering, we lost many of the things we enjoy that make us happy.

We still have the lingering effects of the pandemic, but we have learned so much about one another.  The pandemic has brought out the best in some, and the worst in others.  People react differently when faced with challenges.  We had softball taken away from us and were so grateful when we were finally able to play again! Our CGFS community was put to the test.  We could have given up, but we met the challenge!

This past Fall we had what many believe was the BEST Fall ball season EVER!

As we now begin the 2022 spring season as strong as ever, it reminds us of how it was before… this new softball season promises to closely resemble what we came to know and love before the pandemic.  We are CGFS STRONG!

We have many dedicated people volunteering many hours to make CGFS the special place it is today.  I cannot give enough credit to our CGFS board.  We are made up of outstanding individuals that do an incredible job making softball special for all of us.  We also have parents and players whom I am extremely proud of and feel honored and humbled to be associated with.

Our players are the most important thing in our league, but without ALL of our CGFS community, we would not be able to enjoy the successes we have had and the bright future success we are surely going to see moving forward.

This is going to be an amazing season!

Many of our board members will be moving on as their players are aging out and this is their players last year.  I have much respect and appreciation for this board.  At the end of May, we will usher in many new faces, and I want to encourage others to volunteer to be on our amazing board.  It is an experience that you and your daughter(s) will cherish forever.  It will be something your family and your community will appreciate more and more as time goes by.

This will be my last season as the president of CGFS and I hope I have served all the CGFS community well.  It has not always been easy or without challenges, but my goal has always been to make softball more than just the game, to create the best possible experience for everyone.  This is a time in our lives where we should all be able to look back on fondly and appreciate. Our children grow up way too fast.  We all need to enjoy every moment we can with them, and softball allows us to do just that… making forever friends and memories.

Let’s all be the best we can be in 2022!
